KING OF THE RING a BRNO (REP. CECA)
Kings Of The Ring European Grand Prix +95Kg
Bob's Centrum Bruno, Czech Republic March 21st 2003
Japanese rules +95 kg:
ATTILA KARACS ( Hungary )
REMARKS:
- Excellent show done by GLADIATOR PROMOTION by Mr. Milko Deucman in cooperation with INTERNATIONAL TOP STAR PROMOTIONS by Mr. Harry Gorian with full of spectators, TV presence for Republic Czechia, Slovakia and Italy (ITALIA 9 NETWORK), good fighters and unforeseen fights with many surprises.
- Tournament with all 8 fighters above 100 kg and with 5 fighters with previous results on K1 qualification tournaments in Europe.
Biggest positive surprise:
Attila Karacs who entered as last moment replacement instead Surren Khalachyan ( Russia ) and did excellent fights to win this EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX
Biggest negative surprise:
Paris Vasilikos ( Greece ), one of the favourites to win the tournament did very bad first round and almost lost a match by KO. In 2nd and 3rd round excellent return. He should deserve draw and extra round but due to two points lost in first round, two judges gave total one point minus on their score cards because of which he lost by majority. Pity as semi final Karacs – Vasilikos could be for sure, the best fight of the tournament.
The best fight of the tournament:
Paris Vasilikos ( Greece ) vs Petr Horak ( CZE )
Excellent start from Horak where he almost finished the fight in first round. From 2nd round great return of Vasilikos with some really good kicks and punches where Horak couldn’t continue his work from first round although he was giving good resistance. This fight deserved draw after 3 rounds and extra round to get clear winner.
About champion:
Attila Karacs, although he came in last moment as replacement, was most concrete and ready for this tournament and all how and what he did was excellent. Pity that some fighters finished earlier ( Vasilikos and Gregory ) but this is tournament system and the winner becomes a fighter who is more ready, determined and not injured ( sometimes lucky ).
All credits to the winner who deserve title European KING OF THE RING and for sure, Europe should count with this young and explosive fighter.
